Limited edition of 25.

This work is the first in a series of three prints in which the movement flows from one print to the next and is also part of Ashman's 'Japanese Dancer' series. "The model, a deaf choreographer and dancer is dancing in an extempore style, without music, incorporating sign language into her movements. Each print of this series is slightly different as dark and light coloured inks are mixed by hand on the plate for each printing."

With an impressive resumé and critical acclaim, Margaret Ashman presents sophisticated photo etchings. Investigating the human figure and movement by using dancers as her subject she captures softness and energy in her photographs using a multi-layered approach and incorporating oriental imagery. Asian influences are evident in the simplicity and minimalism of these harmonious compositions. Soulful, sensitive and powerful work.

Margaret's work was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2023.
