Launched in 2023, the New Blood Art Emerging Art Prize shines a light on the most outstanding Fine Art graduates across the UK. These nominated artists are recognised by their tutors as exceptional, and their works are now available to collectors. This is where tomorrow’s leading names in contemporary art begin.

Judges have included:
– Professor Anita Taylor, Dean of Duncan of Jordanstone and founder of the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize
– Serenella Ciclitira, art patron, collector, and founder of StART art fair
– Peter Hargreaves, entrepreneur and art collector
– Jim Rajan, founder of The Subtle Qualities School
– Sarah Ryan, founder of New Blood Art and the Prize
In 2025, we are delighted to welcome Mary-Alice Stack, Chief Executive of Creative United, to the judging panel. Creative United is a Community Interest Company focused on research and innovation to support sustainable practice across the UK’s creative industries. Mary-Alice’s work in cultural finance and sector development brings an important dimension to the Prize’s commitment to long-term creative futures.

About the Prize:
The New Blood Art Emerging Art Prize recognises outstanding Fine Art graduates nominated by tutors from UK BA and MA programmes. Founded in 2023, the Prize highlights exceptional emerging artists at a critical transition point - offering visibility, early professional opportunity, and a connection to wider curatorial and collector networks.
Nominations are made directly by Fine Art tutors across the UK, ensuring that selection is grounded in artistic merit, integrity, and the context of academic and creative development.
The Prize offers something culturally remarkable - a distilled overview of the work emerging from across Fine Art programmes in the UK. It’s a rare insight - not just into remarkable individual emerging artists, but into the collective shape of early-stage contemporary practice across the UK. A chance to see themes, material choices, approaches, the artistic atmosphere of a particular year, like a live cultural document, seen through the eyes of tutors who have been close to the making.
The Prize is part of the wider New Blood Art curatorial platform - championing emerging talent and offering a bridge between education and long-term practice.
