2 exciting new graduate artists
The degree show tour is still underway and the artists I’ve invited to show with us (so far) are beginning to come through onto the website. I invite just a few artists from any one show (and sometimes none - depending on the quality of the show).
Today I'd like to introduce you to two new artists who particularly stood out to me, at their shows. Both studied by the sea (in different locations), Ellie Cotton from Falmouth and Summah Longley from Brighton.
Summah is very tuned into the zeitgeist with her work, re-purposing scrap metal - punching words out of the rusted surface, creating compelling poems in the waste. They are incredibly well priced - unique sculptural pieces that I believe will be snapped up fast.
The lovely Ellie Cotton creates large scale oil paintings, reminiscent of Marlene Dumas - vibrant, tender, anthropomorphic imaginings can be found amidst vivid, rich landscapes as well as softer pastel scenes - echoing the spectrum of a human bruise.
