Art Advisory & Consultancy
New Blood Art helps collectors, private clients, developers and design professionals build meaningful collections and bespoke art schemes. Drawing on more than two decades of curatorial and market experience, we source and commission works from our own roster of artists and across the wider market, including other galleries, dealers, auction houses, independent artists and more established names.
Founder Sarah Ryan, widely quoted in the national press and a regular writer on art investment, has a strong track record of recognising artists with genuine long-term potential at an early stage in their careers. Clients benefit from informed market guidance alongside creative and curatorial expertise.
Whether shaping a family collection, curating a hotel, developing an art scheme for a residential project or advising on a significant acquisition, we manage sourcing, curation and placement with care and rigour.
Art Advisory
Our art advisory service helps clients navigate the market with clarity and confidence.
This can involve building and shaping a collection over time, researching a particular artist or area of the market, tracking availability, reviewing sale histories and market trends, advising on value and guiding an acquisition with care and discretion.
A client might come to us looking for a specific work, wanting to build a collection with a clear point of view or needing expert guidance before making a significant purchase. We work across the wider market, including galleries, dealers, auction houses and artists directly.
Art Consultancy
Our art consultancy service focuses on the relationship between art, architecture, atmosphere, scale and placement.
We collaborate with private clients, interior designers, architects, developers and hospitality teams to shape art schemes that feel cohesive, distinctive and fully integrated into the space and the client’s wider vision.
This can include sourcing and commissioning work, curating schemes across several rooms or buildings, developing limited editions, advising on framing and finishes, planning placement and refining proposals in collaboration with design teams.
Private Home Curation
For private clients looking for art for a particular room, several rooms or a developing home collection, we begin with a brief complimentary exchange to understand the project.
This may include reviewing initial room photographs, discussing preferences, budget and practical requirements, and identifying the broad direction the project might take.
Once the brief moves into tailored curatorial work, including researching artists, selecting individual works, considering scale and placement, preparing proposals or developing combinations across a room, an engagement fee becomes payable.
For a project involving up to two rooms or principal walls, the initial engagement fee is £1,000. This includes:
- Review and refinement of the brief
- A tailored selection of artists and artworks
- Guidance on scale, grouping and placement
- One revised selection following client feedback
- Advice on editions, framing and finishes where relevant
The engagement fee is credited in full against artworks purchased through New Blood Art within three months. If no acquisition is made, the fee covers the curatorial work undertaken.
More extensive projects involving several rooms, commissions, wider-market sourcing, detailed visualisations, installation planning or liaison with interior designers are quoted separately.
Interior Designers & Residential Projects
We work with interior designers, architects and private residential clients to develop art schemes that respond to the wider design of a home.
This may involve sourcing original works and editions, commissioning artists, considering scale and placement across several rooms, advising on framing and finishes, and coordinating with design teams throughout the project.
We can work from an established interior scheme or become involved earlier, using art as one of the starting points around which the wider character of a room or property develops.
Property Developers & Show Homes
We work with developers on art schemes for show homes, residential developments, communal areas and multi-property projects.
This can include sourcing and commissioning work, developing coherent schemes across several spaces, producing limited editions, managing budgets and coordinating framing, delivery and installation.
The aim is to create art schemes that feel considered and specific to the development rather than generic or purely decorative.
Hotels, Hospitality & Commercial Interiors
We curate art for hotels, restaurants, private members’ clubs, offices and other commercial interiors.
Projects may involve original works, commissions, editions, site-specific installations or schemes developed across multiple rooms and public areas.
We work closely with design and operational teams to ensure that the art responds to the architecture, atmosphere, brand and practical requirements of the space.
Commissions & Bespoke Artworks
We commission artists to create original works for particular spaces, briefs and collections.
We can also develop bespoke limited editions in a range of dimensions, materials and finishes, including works produced for residential, hospitality and commercial projects.
Our role can include identifying the artist, developing the brief, overseeing the commission, advising on scale and materials, and coordinating framing, production and installation.
Fees & Engagement
How We Begin
Every project begins with a brief complimentary conversation or exchange with Sarah to understand the project, review its broad scope and establish the most appropriate way forward.
This initial stage is intended to define the brief. Tailored sourcing, artwork selection, proposal preparation, scale and placement advice begin once the appropriate engagement fee has been agreed.
Private Home Curation
For projects involving up to two rooms or principal walls, the initial engagement fee is £1,000.
This fee is credited in full against artworks purchased through New Blood Art within three months.
Larger private residential projects are quoted according to the number of spaces, level of sourcing and degree of curatorial and practical involvement required.
Art Advisory
Art advisory briefs are undertaken either on a fixed-fee basis or on a retainer for an agreed period, depending on the nature of the work.
Art advisory often involves substantial research, market tracking, pricing analysis, liaison with galleries, dealers and auction houses, and specialist guidance over time before any acquisition takes place.
For defined pieces of work, such as a specific report, artist review or time-limited acquisition brief, fees start from £3,000.
For more complex or ongoing acquisition briefs, retainers usually range from £2,500 to £5,000 per month, depending on the scope, level of research and area of the market involved.
Where an acquisition goes ahead, any further fee is agreed in advance according to the value and nature of the work involved.
Art Consultancy
For larger art consultancy projects, we charge an upfront engagement fee before detailed sourcing begins.
This is usually 10 to 15% of the overall art budget, depending on the scale, complexity and level of input required.
As a guide:
- For budgets up to £50,000, the engagement fee is usually 12.5%, with a minimum fee of £4,000
- For budgets between £50,000 and £150,000, the engagement fee is usually 10%
- Larger projects are quoted individually
The fee covers the development of the scheme, including curatorial direction, sourcing, selection, proposal preparation, revisions and placement planning.
Artworks may then be purchased through New Blood Art or sourced through our wider network of galleries, dealers, auction houses and artists.
Where we source and oversee the purchase of the works, the relevant proportion of the engagement fee is credited against works placed through us. Where part of the scheme is purchased elsewhere, that proportion remains covered by the consultancy work already carried out.
Additional Services
Framing, delivery, installation, visualisations, site visits and on-site coordination are priced separately according to scope.
Why New Blood Art
The bedrock of New Blood Art has always been the work of creating the conditions for talented artists to be discovered, collected and sustained over time.
For more than 20 years, that commitment has shaped the business and the wider ecosystem around it. Much of that work has carried a non-profit spirit, despite creating exceptional cultural and commercial value, and we are now in the process of creating the New Blood Art Foundation to hold that work more formally.
Any acquisition through New Blood Art, and any use of our advisory or consultancy services through the commercial gallery, forms part of a wider ecosystem shaped by that ongoing commitment to discovering, championing and sustaining artists over time.
Whether you have a fully developed brief or are simply beginning to think about acquiring art for your home, collection or project, we would be pleased to hear from you.
