2020 Artists: The degree shows
The degree shows 2020
This time of year I would usually be busy planning my degree show tour, travelling across the UK to art colleges and universities to view their graduation art shows and to scout for exciting new artists. It's something I've been doing for the last 16 years, is the highlight of my working year and the bedrock of what we do at NewBloodArt.
Very sadly, with COVID-19 and social distancing regulations in place, the degree shows are now cancelled. Whilst they will be missed by many of us who enjoy them each year, this is hugely disappointing for final year art students and challenging for colleges across the country - as the shows serve as the main assessment tool for most colleges. And as one university tutor remarked earlier in the week: "It's an important ritualistic event for those students. it's about signalling an important rite of passage".
This week I emailed UK art colleges and offered to show the work of their graduating artists at NewBloodArt. An online show with NewBloodArt means that artists will have the opportunity of catching the attention of buyers and the press at this critical stage.
2020 graduate's work will be landing on the website over the coming weeks, a few artists have already uploaded work - view 2020 graduating artists work here and I will update you with news about new exciting artists as the weeks unfold.
All my best,
