3 New 2020 Graduates: Katie Hallam, Jaz Percy and more
Introducing 3 new graduate artists:
Falmouth graduate: Jaz Percy's current practice is mixed media based. Ancient history, female identity, media culture and raw street vibes that radiate colour and energy are pulled from the urban environment; a rich source of subject matter.
Edinburgh graduate: Katie Hallam questions the shape and form of digital culture and how this could be represented when it’s forced to slow down. 'Powering the Cloud' and 'Data Dreamland' is a series of works that look at the connections between new media technology and archaic power, looking at geology, resources of power, materiality of technology and the geopolitical concerns with our future use of technology.
Falmouth graduate: Louise Greenwell keeps detail at the centre of her work, using intricate pointillist and drawing process as the catalyst for her practice. She then takes the movement of line and repetition of mark making from her drawing into three-dimensional sculpture and print. Nature has always inspired her practice, the intricacy of organic forms and the way they grow, move, and intertwine with one another. Each individual vein of a leaf flowing into the next. "It is what inspires my fine metalwork, as I weave and move the metal, bending and folding each piece meticulously."
