4 New 2020 Graduates: Catherine Morgan, Allegra Moghtader-Mojdehi, Rachel Jefferson and Ella Jackson

Introducing 4 new graduate artists:

Manchester School of Art's Ella Jackson: "My work explores our relationship with nature and how we attach ourselves to locations through memories. Each portrait is a flashback, an investigation into nostalgia and time; a glimpse into sunny days spent with the family, and afternoons running through the woods with your friends. It’s a playful reminder of a longing home."
University of Sunderland graduate Rachel Jefferson:
An artist concerned with highlighting the importance of wildlife conservation: Rachel Jefferson's work explores wildlife that has become endangered due to poaching and destruction of their habitat. Her paintings celebrate the existence of these animals - that live alongside humans - an existence that, with continued human interference, will be reduced to only pictures and memories. She uses a mixture of colour and metallic inks to create dream-like and mysterious paintings. The animals in her paintings appear other-worldly, as if mythical creatures, striding through a forgotten landscape – beautiful and foreboding.
Scripps College's Allegra Moghtader-Mojdehi:
"My recent work has been a meditation on how to record ‘nothing.’ An exercise to stop consciously thinking and make without expectation or preconception, rather, emotions. In the solitudes of self-isolation, as your life as you knew it was abrasively uprooted and sent packing across the world, I spent weeks tormented by any notion of creativity and fear of forced creativity for the sake of creating."
Leeds University graduate Catherine Morgan:
"My work points to the inherent power of written language and how letters act as vessels of communication which have meaning bound to them. I aim to subvert this power by using the letter forms as visual tools to create an image that exclusively looks to form and shape, predominately using screen printing to do this."

All my best,
