Divine Spaces: Celebrating Margaret Ashman

Delighted to share that Margaret Ashman has once again been selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2024, showcasing her exceptional talent and dedication to the art of printmaking.

An Oxford graduate with an MA in Physics from Somerville College,
Ashman's practice is deeply rooted in the photographic image, often featuring studies of deaf individuals signing. This unique focus allows her to address complex issues of religious faith and spirituality, with hands serving as a recurring motif that conveys the positive qualities of human nature and the depth of emotional expression.

This significant achievement underscores her exceptional talent and dedication to her craft. Her works, "Divine Light" and "Love Divine 2," will be displayed in rooms 7 and 8, respectively, from 18 June to 18 August 2024 at the Royal Academy of Arts, Burlington House, Piccadilly, London.

These exquisite photo etchings were inspired by her recent show, "Breaking Bread," at the Swiss Church in London. In these pieces, she explores the architectural space of the church, emphasizing verticality and the interplay of figures within expansive spaces. This thematic exploration aligns seamlessly with this year's Summer Exhibition theme, curated by Ann Christopher RA, which delves into the concept of "making space."
