Is This Heaven? Meet 4 new artists

Harriet Westgarth: "I am based in west Sussex and have recently graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth. My work focuses on the act of painting itself and how the artist portrays their emotions as an expression on canvas. My main concept is recreating my own interpretation of historical paintings that portray landscapes or women in an unrealistically ideal ways." - Harriet Westgarth will be representing the UK as a Research Fellow at the next Venice Biennale for art in 2022.

Priya McNeill "My work focuses on memory, as personal experience and as an archive. Using gouache paint and the written word I seek an understanding with the sea, with my surrounding landscapes and how these become internally woven."

Audrey Corbelli: "Frequently travelling from town to town and between different countries, I adapted my eyes to a new way of seeing things. Incorporating influences from different cultures, my current work has been growing in its own direction. Past and contemporary cultures have strongly influenced the artistic creation and development of my work. A strong interest in French painters for many years led to my discovery of new artists and theories, which slowly led to the creation of a new way of making art. From Impressionism to Fauvism to Expressionism, many movements have allowed me to find my painting inspirations and influences."

Sung Lin Hon: Sung Lin Hon (Theresa) is an artist whose central concerns are light, shade, surface, solitude and ambiguity. Her practice explores silence in a painterly way. Theresa’s work shows her vision of light and darkness. With a minimal palette, her work articulates the simultaneous presence and absence that objects suggest. Her artwork reflects her aesthetic of ambiguity and mystery - showcasing an introverted interpretation of shadows. ."
