Meet 2 new Edinburgh MA graduate artists: Tabitha Jacobs and Lorena Levi
Tabitha Jacobs: Landscape is what Tabitha researches and explores as an artist. How it interacts, changes, moves and feels to those who experience it. Working with Indian ink and the natural surfaces of Lokta paper, she is interested in how line and movement can express a landscape’s form and emotion. Combining the practise of drawing alongside photography, cinematography, sound and installation, Tabitha researches into how each aspect can create environments of reflection and appreciation for the beauty of an unspecific, yet familiar and natural environment.
Lorena Levi: ""My name is Lorena and my practice is predominantly in portraiture, but now with a developed interest in narrative painting. I have worked on portriaits of people I have direct contact with however, this year, with the continuous lockdowns and isolation I was not able to continue on this trajectory. I aim to create conversational tone in my work, by getting to know the subjects I hope to create an intimate portrayal of artist/sitter relationship. I decided to get that form of connection through unconventional routes. In an 'of the times' manner, internet chat rooms were making a revival."
