New artists: Kidd Murray & Meg Miller

Like the goddaughter of Kandinsky, or the secret cousin of Klee, and certainly bringing to mind the genius and poetry of the late Matthew Wong's vibrant landscapes; Glasgow School of Art graduate Kidd Murray explores the relationship humans have with (and on) their surroundings, via a hypnotic display of clean contours and a river of dazzling colour.
Working predominantly in oil pastel, with her background as a printmaker, Murray finds inspiration for her work from a mix of life and photographs, sometimes merging features of multiple spaces together… working as one to create entirely new, utterly captivating, vibrant landscapes.
New artist Meg Miller says: "My ideas could be described as my pollen, I transform them into something more refined, my honey…" Gray’s School of Art graduate, Miller, describes the environmental roots of her works which are said to "traverse many fine art forms…"
Immersing herself in research, Miller (beekeeper and artist) dedicates herself to extricating natural and archival resources. With these materials she creates artwork of peculiar beauty and keen intellect. For example, the enchanting piece ’Birth Control III,’ which uses beeswax and metal, gifts us with a profusion of rich colours: mustards, lemons, honeys, ambers, and taupe.
