New Works Exploring Memory and Identity

We are pleased to present a new collection of works at New Blood Art, featuring a diverse array of pieces that delve into themes of memory, identity, and the natural world. This week, we are delighted to showcase new pieces by Alice Barker, James Morton, Rosemary Burn, Jan Valik, and introduce our newest artist, Saad Hussain.

Alice Barker continues to engage viewers with her nuanced exploration of memory and nostalgia. Her work has been recognised in prestigious exhibitions such as the RSA New Contemporaries 2023, underscoring her growing reputation and collectibility in the art world.

James Morton offers a thought-provoking series that delves into the complexities of identity and perception. His dynamic compositions challenge the viewer to decipher fragmented visages, reflecting the multifaceted nature of human experience. Morton's process often begins with old photographs, aligning with Barker's thematic exploration of memory.

Rosemary Burn presents serene depictions of the natural world, capturing the delicate beauty of her subjects with meticulous attention to detail and masterful use of light and shadow.

Jan Valik explores the relationship between human perception and visual experience, creating works that balance abstract and figurative elements. His paintings evoke spatial and pictorial ambiguity, addressing contemporary issues such as global displacement and environmental anxiety. Valik, who is about to graduate from his MA at the Royal College of Art, continues to explore the boundaries between abstract and figurative painting.

We are also delighted to introduce Saad Hussain, a New Blood Art Emerging Art Prize 2024 nominee, who transports us into the heart of the forest with his work, exploring the emotional and psychological landscape of depression. Nominated by his tutor and fellow New Blood Art artist, Charlotte Brisland, Hussain's unique perspective and innovative techniques add a fresh voice to our collection.

We invite you to explore these new works and more available for purchase on our website. Each piece offers a rich and varied artistic experience, encouraging reflection on the themes of nature, memory, and identity.
