New original emerging art
As it begins to get properly cold in the UK, new work at New Blood Art reflects the wintery mood. There’s something beautifully indigenous about Paris Foot’s new painting Elk that brings to mind rock paintings of silhouetted animals and Inuit tapestries, in this case elks graze across a white ground, of which she says:
"The elk are restless, and as they move they scar the landscape with vivid colour. Watching from a distance patterns emerge, as groups swarm together and fall apart in a mesmerizing dance.”
It’s a beautiful piece at an incredible price point.
New work by Sonja de Graaf continues to be inspired by female literature this time 'Between the Acts' by Virginia Wolf, which was published shortly after she took her own life: “and the air around her became a web of feelings” is the title of Sonja's newest work.
New work by Stephen Todd references Turner and Cy Twombly with gestural words that begin to emerge and then disappear into more generalised mark making, creating balance between representation and abstraction, between what can be seen and what is felt. These are interesting new works by a talented artist who has been selling consistently well for many years. Again very reasonably priced original work.
There are lots of other new piece available – see a selection below and view all newly available art here.
Don’t forget that a selection of Emiko Aida’s beautiful aquatints as detailed in last week’s newsletter will be increasing by 30% tomorrow.
