The curative affect of beauty, wild horses and other inspiration
A number of our artists have been making new works; Stephen Todd continues to describe life close to the water - I’m particularly enjoying ‘Hideaway’ with it’s secluded beach and row of coloured huts…
We have new work from Hummell-Newell, a generous artist who allows the space in her work for found ephemera and artefacts, bearing the traces of another’s hand. An array of references cohere in her elegant and minimalist works - they are brimming with energy.
It’s great to welcome new artist Ele Pack to the site, who has achieved one of the most exciting challenges for an artist - to have created a personal visual language. In her paintings the landscape seems to represent so much more than the mere physical world, with swooping birds and silhouetted animals conveying a strong sense of freedom.
It is also great to welcome Sue Williams A’ Court to the New Blood family, an artist interested in the curative affect of beauty, creating meditative works, inspired by the natural world. Channeling the hugely popular Damien Hirst, we also have some dynamic new spin paintings by Soren James.
Finally, we are gearing up for the degree shows which start in April. planning to visit over a hundred shows, all over the UK - so if you’re looking for anything in particular, or would like us to keep an eye out for a certain subject matter or spirit, then just let me know.

Dover Beach 16 by Sue Williams A'Court
Embroidered linen on canvas, part of a series of paintings that were exhibited along side an installation of pebbles with words painted on them. Inspration comes from the poem "Dover Beach" by Mathew Arnold that describes the hollow emptiness of the sound of the sea. Im interested in how humans choose to fill this void and shape their lives with longings, beliefs and desires. "Ich habe genug" refers to a Bach cantata and translates as "it is enough"
