William Fice
William Fice's predilection for dark tones makes the brighter colours glow which imbue or surround his characters. They are young men, either on the move or contemplative, alone or in groups. These people are both at play and reflecting; the artist endears, dignifies and electrifies these scenes of them.
They inhabit a place of recess, maybe of isolation, or suspended time: taking place "in a period between adolescence and adulthood." The artist paints from Instagram images of his friends, a source of mediated lived reality; his application makes the photographic material surge. An assemblage of forms transiting in lyrical colours results in self-consciously constructed painted images.
