Ellie Whitbread makes experimental photographs that explore gender and the glass ceiling. Inspired by Caroline Criado-Perez's Invisible Women, her images use translucent screens that cast shadows – making visible what is usually rendered invisible.
My work examines the relationship of gender within society. I use photography as a tool to interrogate the structures that render women invisible – working with translucency, shadow, and light to materialise what is usually overlooked.
