Maryna Shkoliar is a Ukrainian artist based in Ukraine. Her Facescapes focus on isolated facial details – an eye, a mouth, a glance – distilled into small circular paintings. Working with oil and acrylic, she uses soft shifts of tone, fluid brushwork and areas of texture to create works that feel both intimate and quietly arresting. These paintings have the presence of small treasures, made to be lived with closely and particularly compelling when hung together as a collection.
As a contemporary artist rooted in classical traditions, I explore the intersection of realism, impressionism and modern art. My work is a visual dialogue between the tangible world and the emotional realm. Working primarily in oil and acrylic, I combine fluid brushwork with expressive impasto techniques. I aim to strengthen the connection between my artwork and the observer, deeply resonating with them, offering a moment of solace and a sense of hope.
